Pretty Packaging

Today I was ready for a change, so I went red. I brought in a picture of Pepper Potts from Iron Man. I did it a long time ago (pre-Riley) and it faded quickly and I decided not to do it again. This time it was a plus because Miss Roo was upset about our hair not matching. I assured her I'd only have "Ariel colored" hair for a little while and then it would go back to "yellow"

Then (October 2008) & Now

Strange, the first time I went red seems like a different lifetime now. I really like it and it goes without saying Mike loves it. Riley was insistent that we dye hers to match, but she seems to be coming around to things now. After my appointment, I settled my newly red headed self down for an afternoon of wrapping.

It sounds silly, but I was over the moon to have used every bit of the roll of paper Riley had picked and not wasted or needed a single scrap more. I had to get creative with some awkwardly shaped things and use ribbon to hide tiny gaps, but I did it. Would the me from 2008 be embarrassed that I find myself bragging on the internet about this?

I wrapped one outfit, one toy and one book for tomorrow and kept an outfit and two toys for Saturday. I figured she could open her outfit after breakfast and wear it. Then her book before nap and we'd read it. Then around dinner time she'd open the toy. We'll see how that works out. Tonight we're going to decorate the house so she wakes up to a little birthday magic.

I much prefer when the kids' parties happen before their birthday rather than after. I feel like I have to make two days very special when they're after. When they're before you just ride the momentum from the party.

  1. The color looks good.

You're probably too young to remember, but back in my day, we had this stuff called "Sun In". Really it was just peroxide, so bad for the hair, but it lightened my hair really good.

I like your new hair color alot.
