Mid Week Hodge Podge

A little while back Mike built me a ramp at the back door. Yay! Getting down the step even with Riley in my lap was cake, but getting back up was killing me.

Around the same time I attacked the "kids shelves" of my dining room bookcase. I decided to organize it into a reference section. It meant the thicker heavier books on the sturdier shelf. Plus it cut out all of Isaac's trips from the dining room to his bedroom to get the dictionary. Also, it just looks nicer and stays that way longer because those books don't get pawed through as much.

One of our first projects that both kids worked on was All About Me Books. Riley pooped out after the first page, but Isaac and I worked on them for two weeks off and on. I wanted to share some of his illustrations. They are very unique.

I'm pretty sure this is every pet he's ever had or wanted. Only the dog and cat in the center are current residents.

He explained the final drawing by saying that's him at the computer. The computer attached to some kind of acceleration device. The shelf above his head for some inexplicable reason contains a bowling ball. That is "about to crash down! Uh-oh!" Boys are weird.

Today we played US geography games because I discovered last week that Isaac can only name about 10 states. One of the things I found was worksheets dividing the states by region where you fill in the names. Then, even though they weren't scaled quite right for it for it, I had him cut them out and color them. We stuck them to blue scrapbook paper to make a map.

I think it turned out pretty well and he knows more than 10 states now. After it was done I played him the Animaniacs states and capitals song. He was incredibly entertained.
