We read a book several times on our recent trip where little boys catch the fuzzy monster that's been eating their dirty socks. Riley's favorite part by far is that when the laundry basket comes down it makes a "Thunk!" sound. At least when I read it, it does.
When we were getting into the car at the airport at midnight to drive home Mike hit me in the head with his laptop case several times. I said "I'm gonna get wounds on my head!". Riley found this hilarious!
(Laughing) Thunk! (Laughing some more) Don't get wounds on my head, Daddy! This continued the whole 30min trip home and then some. What a weird-o
Last week we were watching Karate Kid
Me to Riley: Say Hi-ya! Riley: YeeHaw!Not even close, but maybe she was in a cowboy mood? However, the following day she was riding Daddy like a horse:
Me to Riley: Say YeeHaw! Riley: Hee Haw!I guess she was a donkey.
The other day we were walking to my car and I asked Riley to hold her toy and her cup:
Mommy I don't have 4 hands! I'm not a squid! She was playing with Daddy later that day.
Mike to Riley: What are you doing? Riley to Mike: Climbing you. Mike to Riley: Oh! Riley to Mike: (reaching the top) I conquered you!Riley asked me for a blank card from the pile on my desk, then she took it to her art table and started writing. After about 5min Riley annouced she was done.
Me:What did you write? Riley: A note. Me: Oh, good. Riley: It says: Dear Aunt Dianana Tanks for giving me snacks. Please come to my house and play. Amen! Me: (laughing) We sign notes Love Riley. Riley: Oh. (writes some more scribbles) (Reading) Dear Aunt Dianana, Tanks for sancks! Love Riwey! AMEN!One of her favorite stories to read at bedtime is a lesser known Dr. Seuss story called What Was I Scared Of.
Brickles on your britches and snide bushes are two elements of the story that have made it into our daily vocabulary. Mike works very hard on landscaping our yard in the Spring every year and this year we've managed to hang on to most of our flowers. Largely, Riley isn't allowed to pick any, but there's one bush of flowers she's allowed to pick from.
(She picks a flower) It's a snide flower! From the snide bush, in the dark-a-ness!Stretching the syllables on a word is kind of the new thing. Yesterday, she wanted to play outside so she brought her shoes into my room. She told me she would do it herself. She looked around:
I will sit here on this pat-er-ren called a wheelchair.
