Gettin' Ready!

I dropped off my children at camp/school and was home by 9am. Honestly, I felt a little like I'd stepped off a Merry-Go-Round. There had been so much clingy neediness that I'd had to get through to get my unpacking, house cleaning, dinners, etc done I was disorientated to come home to the quiet house.

I managed with help to get a lot done despite the sickies so today is my day to do the quiet things. Get my classroom set up, edit blog posts, upload pictures, etc. I got all the images for Riley's schedule cards into photo shop to add words, etc. I printed everything and colored the ones that needed color as of yesterday. Today, I glued them to colored paper, covered them with clear packing tape and cut them with edging scissors.

Here are there schedules hanging side by side.

We also followed the lead of this mommy blogger and assigned a special topic to each day of the week. This mom also got creative with her daily themes. Here's what we landed on:

  • Molecular Mondays (aka Science Day) We read about and experiment on a different topic every Monday.
  • Tunes & Tomes Tuesday Reading and dancing day! Tuesday are always my favorite day to go to the library during the school year and Riley had her dance class Tuesday nights. Now that it's summer they have Preschool Jams on Tuesdays. So, we go to the library, Riley dances and then we check out books. When we get home we enjoy our picks in our reading fort. We're also making "All About Me Books" and designing our own "This Books Belongs To" stickers and other reading related activities.
  • Worldly Wednesday Isaac writes to his Chinese penpal, we read international news, talk geography and cook (or at least eat) an international dish.
  • Take A Trip (aka Go! Dog GO!) Thursday Simple, we go somewhere. Visit grandparents, the zoo, a museum, a friends' house, etc. For example we'll go to Grandpa's Farm and learn about raising chickens.
  • Fabricate (aka build it!) Friday! We build something! A piece of furniture, a model of the human spine, a house of cards, etc

Ready or not next week officially starts Summer Camp at Home.
