The day came, Miss Leeloo has moved into her big girl crate. It's got lots of room and a brand new comfy pillow. She loves it, but it's clear she's not sure what it means. She frolicked in and out of it smelling it and looking proudly at at us. That lasted about an hour then she got super clingy. She seemed worried and sad.
I think she really got upset when her old crate started coming down. Change is hard. I certainly felt teary about another baby growing up. I think not sleeping next to Mommy any more is the hardest thing for her and I. After her small crate was collapsed and moved I found her laying in the empty spot looking heart broken. It did help a little when we put one of her "softies" from her old crate in there. It was just a lot to process I think. Even at just under 50lbs (the vet weighed her today for her new medicine 46.7lbs) she's got room to grow. How is possible that'll she EVER be 80lbs? Well getting up to 50lbs by 5mo is a clue for sure.
She was a little edgy at bedtime so Mike and I stayed in living room and watched a movie until she fell asleep. On a side note we really enjoyed Father of Invention with Kevin Spacey. She slept well as you can see and the cat seemed largely unbothered by the invention of her turf.
She was so exceedingly proud of herself in the morning. "I'm a big girl! I did it. I slept away from Mommy and Daddy. I'm big!" She leapt into our bed and right into Daddy's arms with her new ball. It was priceless. She wanted to make sure we still loved her just as much. So sweet.
